The canvas build process, from start to finish...
The first stage of the canvas printing process is to prepare the image for print. In this instance the optional effects selected are 1. Image effect - Subject Colour (Subject in colour against a black and white background)
2. Wall effect - Black 30% transparent.
First I remove the colour from the background.
A 30% black transparent border is then placed above the image to create the canvas wall effect. I will send a free digital image proof for your approval so that I can make any alterations if required
Once approved I start printing. I use the HP Z3200 printer which covers 95% of the PANTONE® colour range, one of the best in its class. The Vivera inks I use produce professional gallery quality prints that have a 200 year fade guarantee (under a controlled environment).
The final protective coating is a liquid lamination, this enhances the details and the colours and also protects the artwork from water and the effects of UV.
The stretcher bars that I use are made from grade A quality, European kiln-dried pine. They have a rounded back edge which is designed to ensure that there will be no ghost impressions on the face of the canvas, and it also helps to prevent edge cracking.
Perfect corners everytime!
Once dry the canvas material is positioned correctly and then stretched over the frame and stapled suitably.
Two sides are finished, the others are stretched ready for stapling.
Frame tape is applied over the seams of the canvas material on the rear to seal the material down.
The finished canvas, Finally the canvas is wrapped in bio-degradable bubble wrap, protectors are placed on each corner and the canvas is packed into a protective cardboard box.
